Love is a universal emotion – and yet it takes an infinite number of forms and expressions. It leaves us vulnerable, for love also means opening ourselves up to another person. Yet love protects us neither from being treated unfairly nor from acting unfairly ourselves. Often, experiences and opinions about love are influenced by expectations or traditional
gender roles, which can lead to (pre)judgements, rejection and exclusion. ‘Same Love’ challenges traditional notions of roles and gender and shows just how diverse love can be when it unites rather than divides. Highly personal stories come together to form a stirring performance that celebrates the diversity of human experience and culminates in a powerful statement of self-empowerment.

The outdoor version of Kaltuk’s “Same Love” was created for his company MEK in Switzerland. Having already completed numerous stops on a major international tour, the piece is now being reworked with the TanzGelsenkirchen ensemble. This evening of dance explores, in the urban space and on the stage of the Kleines
