Gabriel Mareque

Gabriel Mareque is a costume designer and composer for contemporary dance. Trained as a dancer, he develops music based on an intuitive understanding of movement, the body and the stage space. His musical practice began whilst he was studying at the Higher Vocational School for Contemporary and Urban Stage Dance in Zurich. Since then, his work with sound has developed into a distinct artistic focus. He has a long-standing collaboration with choreographer Muhammed Kaltuk, including on ‘Hemmige’ at the Lucerne Theatre. He also composed the music for “Raising Karen’s Children” and “Same Love” for Kaltuk’s company MEK.
