Don’t just watch – become part of the action yourself! – Whether through your voice, body, imagination or craftsmanship: our hands-on activities allow interested audience members to get involved artistically and get creative. Together with MiR artists or under the guidance of theatre professionals, participants can discover new sides to themselves in workshops, choirs, theatre groups or movement sessions, become part of our artistic world, experience musical theatre up close – and help shape it themselves!
MiR hosts: Urban Stylez Dance Battles
Organised by Dhélè Tchekpo Agbetou and Muhammed Kaltuk, the Urban Stylez Dance Battles will see us open up the stage at the Kleines Haus for a dance event unlike anything the MiR has ever seen before. To the beats of hip-hop, house and funk, dancers from all over the world are coming together to jam, share ideas and battle it out. The competitive spirit is lived out within a framework of respectful, appreciative camaraderie; fun is the main focus of this event, which is set to shake the walls of the Kleines Haus. Open to everyone to watch – and join in the battles!
Discourse and gaming
The MiR.LAB Digital Coffee Chat (for everyone aged 50 and over): A creative get-together for older people and the young at heart – for anyone who finds newer technologies anything from intriguing to dubious. With a critical, curious and artistic approach, participants explore artificial intelligence, keyboards, virtual reality, computer mice and social media over coffee and biscuits. For anyone who’s ever deleted the internet and wants to know how to get it back.
Sing with MiR
Whether it’s during Advent, after work or simply for the sheer joy of life: we regularly invite you to come and sing with us. Enjoy the company and the music, some drinks and, at Christmas, some festive treats too!

MiR.Intensive
Theatre thrives on change. This is most clearly evident to the outside world when there is a change in leadership, bringing with it new formats, new teams and new artists. Just such a change has taken place at the MiR – reason enough to take a look at the processes set in motion by Frank Hilbrich as the new General Director and Muhammed Kaltuk as the new Director of TanzGelsenkirchen. What were the key considerations in selecting the plays and material that make up their first season at the MiR?
How did the programme come about, which new directorial and choreographic styles have they brought to the city, and what hopes do they associate with them? The members of our Audience Advisory Board meet at regular intervals to discuss content both on and off stage and to work with us to develop visions for what the MiR of the future might look like. Your critical, positive and unbiased views are important to us in breaking down barriers and gaining fresh inspiration.

Come and dance with the pros! On selected dates, dancers, rehearsal director Tenald Zace or TanzGelsenkirchen director Muhammed Kaltuk invite you to a dance workshop. All you need is comfortable clothing and a sense of curiosity.
