Katharina Rückl

Dramaturg

After studying music at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Katharina Rückl decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, specialising in theatre education, at Zurich University of the Arts, from which she graduated in 2020. Alongside her own artistic work – including the project “intim, öffentlich!” at the Wildwuchs Festival in Basel, a theatre festival promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities – she completed an internship in festival organisation and project management at the Kunstfest Weimar in 2019. In 2020, she took on the role of outreach coordinator for the Kunstfest Weimar as well as a position as project manager. During the 2020–21 season, she worked in theatre education at the Junges Theater Heidelberg. Also in 2020, she began studying for an Executive Master’s in Arts Administration at the University of Zurich, which she completed in 2024. Following her time in Heidelberg, her path led her to the Ruhr region in 2021, to the Ruhrtriennale – the Festival of the Arts. Under the artistic direction of Barbara Frey, she was part of the Ruhrtriennale’s artistic production office until autumn 2023. In 2023, she moved into dramaturgy and served as a dramaturg at Graz Opera during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons, focusing on outreach and education.

She returned to the Ruhr region for the 2025–26 season and has been a dramaturg at the Musiktheater im Revier ever since.
