New Year’s Concert
- Vorstellung
Around the world in just one evening: at this season’s New Year’s Concerts, the NPW takes you on a journey featuring well-known works by composers such as Rossini and Dvořák, as well as some very special treats from Jacques Offenbach, Paul Lincke and Franz von Suppé. We’ll also take a trip back to the Roaring Twenties and, of course – as always in the New Year’s Concert – to Vienna, with plenty of music from the Strauss dynasty! Along the way, we’ll encounter classics such as the virtuoso ‘Chineser-Galopp’, the rousing polka ‘Éljen a Mágyar!’ and the sparkling ‘Lagunenwalzer’, whilst also exploring rarely performed gems
such as Josef Strauss’s fast-paced ‘Auf Ferienreisen’ or Eduard Strauss’s ‘Souvenir de Baden’. Musical travelogues conjure up images of oriental fairy-tale worlds, of distant lands from Siam to Hawaii, right through to American impressions. With conductor Florian Ziemen, a passionate operetta specialist, at the helm, this year’s series of New Year’s concerts is set to be a real treat.
