Zsófia Safranka-Peti

Zsófia Safranka-Peti is a Hungarian contemporary dancer, choreographer and movement researcher. She graduated from the Hungarian Dance University with a Bachelor’s degree in ‘Fashion Dance’ and later obtained a Master’s degree in ‘Contemporary Dance’.

Over the past ten years, she has performed internationally with ensembles and artists across Europe, West Asia, Australia, South America and the USA. Since joining the MiR Dance Company in Germany, she has collaborated with internationally renowned choreographers such as Marcos Morau, Giuseppe Spota, Emma Evelein, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Kor’sia and Lali Ayguadé. Her previous collaborations include productions with the Feledi Project, Tellabor, Inversedance, MAZE and JC Movement. For the 26/27 season, she will remain with the Gelsenkirchen-based company, now known as TanzGelsenkirchen, led by Muhammed Kaltuk.

Alongside her artistic career, several of her own creations have gained international recognition and won awards at choreography competitions and dance festivals.

Her works have been presented internationally in Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Mexico and the USA. In 2022, she was also awarded the prestigious Fülöp Viktor Scholarship in Hungary for outstanding artistic achievement.

Furthermore, she appeared as a TEDxYouth speaker in Budapest and gave a talk on motor memory and the connection between the body and experience.

Since 2021, she has also been working as a teacher in Hungary, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, creating platforms for movement research, creativity and interdisciplinary artistic exchange.
