Yuna Kudo

Yuna Kudo has been Artistic Director of the Opernstudio NRW since the 2023/24 season, having begun her career as an opera coach in Germany four years earlier as a member of the studio. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in musicology at the Tokyo University of the Arts and her Master’s degree in coaching at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito di Parma. During her training at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, she took part in an exchange programme between La Scala in Milan and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, before going on to work as a coach at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala from 2017 to 2019. She was also a member of the Vocal Residency at the 2019 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Further engagements took her to the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the As.Li.Co. Teatro Sociale di Como, the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Como, the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto and the Tyrolean Festival Erl, to which she was regularly invited from 2015 to 2021. From 2020 to 2022, she was engaged at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen as a solo coach with conducting duties. In June 2022, she moved to Oper Frankfurt. Her repertoire now comprises over 100 operas, ranging from the Baroque to the modern era. She has accompanied masterclasses given by Mirella Freni, Enzo Dara, Renato Bruson and Luciana Serra, and has worked with conductors such as Ádám Fischer, Gustav Kuhn, Paolo Carignani and Friedrich Haider.
