Thomas Ratzinger

Thomas Ratzinger, born in Munich, began working as a lighting technician in the early 1990s. He has been a qualified lighting designer since 2006 and has since been working as a lighting designer for independent theatre companies and theatres in the fields of drama, musical theatre, musicals and dance. These include, amongst others, the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Nationaltheater Weimar, the Theater Erlangen, the SNAP Theatre in England and the Bayreuth Festival.
In addition, he worked for almost 10 years at the August Everding Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich. This was followed by a seven-year permanent position as lighting master at the Mainfranken Theatre in Würzburg and later at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Thomas Ratzinger has been employed at the MiR since the 2017–18 season.
