Sonja Hebestadt
Music theatre educator
Sonja Hebestadt was born in Duisburg and discovered her love of the stage and music at the age of six. As part of a preparatory course for university studies and a programme for gifted students, she specialised in ‘Classical Singing’. After completing her A-levels, she moved to Hamburg to train in singing, acting and dance at the ‘Stage School Hamburg’. Since successfully qualifying as a stage performer in 2005, she has received numerous engagements and has now been gracing the stage for more than 19 years. She has appeared in musicals such as *Honk!* and *Non(n)sens*, played Eva in the two-person play *The Diaries of Adam and Eve*, and sang the role of Josepha in the operetta *The White Horse Inn*. She has been cast in leading roles in revues and touring productions such as “Petticoat and Miniskirt” and has performed in children’s theatre productions such as “Cinderella” and “Ritter Rost”. She also sang in concerts and shows, including ‘The Petit Fours Show’, and was part of the show ensemble on board a cruise ship as a vocal soloist. She was able to indulge her passion for comedy at venues including the Comödie Dresden in the production “Scharfe Brise”, whilst further engagements took her to the Komödie Kassel, the Theaterschiff Lübeck and the Packhaustheater Bremen. In Hamburg, she appeared as Hermine in the comedy *Der Mustergatte*.
Alongside her stage work, she has also worked as a choreographer and taught children and young people various dance styles. She also trained as a BuT® theatre educator and gained teaching experience in projects with children, focusing on movement, dance and voice. She is now delighted to pass on her passion for theatre and the performing arts to children and young people as part of cultural education in her role as a musical theatre educator at Musiktheater im Revier, and, as project manager for the Musiktheater im Revier Foundation, she is the point of contact for the foundation’s projects. At the MiR, she hosted the ‘Wunschkonzert’ gala in 2022, sang and hosted the musical gala ‘It only took a kiss’ in 2023 and, in 2025, co-hosted the dance gala in aid of the Musiktheater im Revier Foundation. She also appeared as a guest on ‘Fifty Fifty – die Show’. She made her MiR musical debut in 2024 as Minnie Fay in the musical “Hello Dolly!”. She appeared as Crystal, a Soulgirl, in the musical “The Little Shop of Horrors”. In the cyber-operetta “GÖTTINNEN”, she played the role of Aphrodite.
