Simon Stricker
Singer
Simon Stricker was born in 1989 and studied singing in Berlin at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music under Thomas Quasthoff. He also completed a Master’s degree at the Stuttgart University of Music under Prof. Jaeger-Böhm. In 2015, he won first prize at the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition.
During the 2015/16 season, the young baritone made his debut on the main stage of the Stuttgart State Opera as the Cappadocian in the new production of *Salome*. At the 2016 Baden-Baden Easter Festival, he made his debut as the Steersman in *Tristan und Isolde* under the musical direction of Sir Simon Rattle. From August 2016, Simon Stricker was a member of the ensemble at the Wuppertaler Bühnen, where he made his house debut as Wilhelm/Schlémil/Dapertutto in *The Tales of Hoffmann*. Since then, he has expanded his repertoire to include roles such as Leander (‘The Love for the Three Oranges’), the Count (‘The Marriage of Figaro’), Fritz/Frank (‘The Dead City’) and Creon in ‘Oedipus Rex’. He has also appeared on stage as Schaunard (‘La Bohème’), Belcore (‘L’elisir d’amore’), Figaro (‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’), Albert (‘Werther’), Germont (‘La Traviata’), Papageno (‘The Magic Flute’), Wolfram (‘Tannhäuser’) and Peter Besenbinder (‘Hansel and Gretel’). He has been a member of the ensemble at the Musiktheater im Revier since the 2023/24 season.
