Marie-Louise Hertog

Marie-Louise Hertog, born in the Netherlands, completed her dance training at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. Whilst still a student, she worked with choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Michael Schumacher, Jan Martens and Sjoerd Vreugdenhil. In 2015, she was awarded a dance scholarship by the Kylián Foundation. She spent her final year of study with the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam.

After graduating in 2016, she danced for Nanine Linning at the Heidelberg Theatre and subsequently worked as Nanine Linning’s choreographic assistant at the Bavarian State Ballet and with the Nanine Linning Dance Company. From the 2019–20 season, Marie-Louise Hertog has been a member of the MiR Dance Company at the Musiktheater im Revier under the direction of Giuseppe Spota. There she has appeared in choreographies by, amongst others, Giuseppe Spota, Marcos Morau, Roy Assaf, Felix Landerer, Sita Ostheimer, Anat Oz, Liliana Barros, Emma Evelein, Maura Morales, Akira Yoshida, Caroline Finn, Mauro Bigonzetti and Olivia Court Mesa. For the 26/27 season, she will remain with the Gelsenkirchen-based company, now known as TanzGelsenkirchen and directed by Muhammed Kaltuk.

Her work increasingly straddles the boundaries between dance, cinematography and acting, and, in addition to stage productions, also encompasses dance films, music videos and film projects, including a role in the German series “Testo”. She also develops her own choreographic works and most recently created “Sacre”, her first commissioned work for the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam as part of the double bill “Origin”. She also regularly leads workshops both in Germany and abroad.
