Lina Edlin

The mezzo-soprano Lina Edlin (née Hoffmann) completed her Master of Music at the Cologne University of Music under Prof. Mechthild Georg. Prior to this, she had already obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Bonn. Her training also included many years of lessons with the renowned pianist and professor of art song, Stefan Irmer – with whom she performed a recital at the Musiktheater im Revier in 2022. In addition, she has taken part in masterclasses with Ingeborg Danz, Prof. Klesie Kelly-Moog, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Anne Schwanewilms, KS Dalia Schächter, and Klaus and Helen Donath.

Since the 2019–20 season, Lina Edlin has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen. Here, she has appeared, amongst other roles, as Carmen in the opera of the same name by Georges Bizet, as Dorabella in *Cosi fan tutte* by W.A. Mozart, and as Hänsel in *Hänsel und Gretel* by E. Humperdinck. During the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons, she was a member of the Young Ensemble at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen. She made her debut at Theater Aachen during the 2016–17 season as Amaranta in Joseph Haydn’s *La fedelta Premiata*.

During the 2010.11–2013–14, Lina Edlin was a soloist with the Youth Opera Choir at Theater Bonn, where she took part in German premieres such as the role of ‘Queen’ in Karl Jenkins’ youth opera ‘Eloise’. To date, Lina Edlin has worked with directors including Jetske Mijnssen, David Hermann, Manuel Schmitt, Jens Kerbel, Bärbel Stenzenberger, Florian Lutz, Prof. Igor Folwill, Tamara Heimbrock, Ben Baur, Dominique Horwitz, Michael Schulz, Sonja Trebes, Rahel Thiel, Thomas Weber-Schallauer and Dietrich W. Hilsdorf.

In 2017, Lina Edlin was a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation, Cologne branch. In January 2019, she was awarded the first Roderburg Opera Prize by the Friends and Supporters of the Cologne University of Music. In 2023, she received the Gelsenkirchen Theatre Prize’s Encouragement Award from the Sparkasse Gelsenkirchen Foundation.
