Laura Waltz

Performer, dancer & movement researcher

Laura Waltz is a performer from Berlin who specialises in dance, performance and movement research. With a background in dance, drama, and puppet and object theatre, she explores interdisciplinary connections between movement and performance. A particular focus of her work is on using the body as an instrument, as well as the application of motion-capture techniques and principles of animation. She is currently conducting research into witch hunts and their modern societal manifestations. Her work has included appearances in the inclusive production “VOM UMTAUSCH AUSGESCHLOSSEN” (dir. M. Couturier) at the Thikwa Theatre, at the White Money Festival organised by FLINN WORKS in 2021 at Berlin’s Sophiensaele, at Dock11 as part of the “SpeeDance Project”, and at the Oyoun Theatre in the production “Re-Rooting” by and starring Nora Amin; she was also part of the inclusive production “Herzen. ZWISCHEN. Vulkanen”, which received the Berlin Prevention Award in 2023. She is conducting research on the project “Own my Body?”, funded by #TakeHeart and Kampnagel, and was selected for a fellowship at the ITI Academy Germany for 2022/2023. She further developed her work with motion-capture techniques during a fellowship at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality. At MiR.LAB, she appeared in the sci-fi opera “Am Ende der Welt” (dir.
