Jan Cielski
Choir Singer
Jan Ciesielski, born in Warsaw, studied opera singing at the Academy of Music in Łódź. Even whilst still training as a singer, the tenor gained his first experience as a soloist, including as Agamemnon in Jacques Offenbach’s operetta *La Belle Hélène* and as Masetto in W.A. Mozart’s *Don Giovanni*. After completing his studies, he took on the roles of the Governor and Vanderdendur in Leonard Bernstein’s musical “Candide” at the Warsaw National Opera, as well as the role of Stach in Karol Kazimierz Kurpinski’s “Zabobon”. His wide-ranging repertoire includes not only opera, operetta and musicals, but also art songs and Orthodox church music.
Jan Ciesielski has been a member of the chorus at the Musiktheater im Revier since January 2008. His engagements also include solo roles; for example, he sang the Soldier and the Pupil in Monteverdi’s *L’incoronazione di Poppea*, as well as the First Philistine in Camille Saint-Saëns’ *Samson et Dalila*.
