Gordana Djukic

Visual artist

Gordana Djukic works as a visual artist, with a particular focus on painting, objects, sculpture and photography. In her work, she explores themes such as freedom, vastness and infinity, which are deeply rooted in her past. She draws inspiration from formative childhood experiences, such as the long summers on the Adriatic coast and visits to her family in Šumadija, Serbia. Her artistic approach is experimental: she combines pastes she mixes herself, natural finds and colour materials to depict human existence in relation to the greater whole in her mixed-media works.

Gordana Djukic has been active as an artist since her youth. Alongside her main profession as an IT business administrator and telecommunications consultant (until 2022), she has continuously furthered her education – through courses, workshops and self-study in painting, photography and object art. Since 2019, she has been exhibiting her works in group and solo exhibitions. Her professional career includes numerous organisational roles within the art scene: From 2021 to 2023, she was involved with the Gelsenkirchen Gallery Mile and remains active to this day with the Bund Gelsenkirchener Künstler e.V. She is also a member of the Gelsenkirchen Art School and worked for three years in her Atelier 108 on Bochumer Straße. Since 2022, she has been running painting courses and workshops for children, young people and adults, including at the Gelsenkirchen Art School e.V., at meyer 56 on behalf of Christoph Lammert’s Szeniale support association, and in collaboration with Fisch&Apfelmus at the Alte Brotfabrik. There, Gordana Djukic has been part of the ‘Studio Collective at the Alte Brotfabrik’ alongside three other female artists since early 2024.
