Dominik Hallerbach
Artistic engagement and participation
Dominik Hallerbach was an arts educator at MiR.LAB from April 2024 to August 2026 and was responsible for participatory projects. Under his direction, productions such as the Gelsenkirchen-based BaRockOper ‘Neustern in der Gelekxie’, the site-specific radio play ‘Die geheime Suppe’ and the immersive musical theatre piece ‘Die FIRMA’ were created. In his (music) theatre pieces set in urban spaces, Dominik Hallerbach collaborates with a diverse range of participants from the city’s community, draws inspiration from everyday life and works with all those involved to create shared fictions. After studying philosophy in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main and applied theatre studies in Gießen, he worked as a freelancer in interdisciplinary collectives and for various theatres. He is part of the Rummelrock collective ‘Wurst im Wasserkocher’, with whom he undertook, amongst other things, a cross-genre collaborative concert tour exploring carnival elements in music between Berlin and Italy.
