Dirk Weiler

Dirk Weiler studied acting, singing and dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, as well as singing at the Manhattan School of Music, City College and Brooklyn College in New York, where he obtained a Master of Music. He also took acting lessons at the New York studio ‘Expressions’. For ten years, he worked as an actor and singer in New York, where his accolades included winning the ‘Lotte Lenya Competition’ and the ‘New York Nightlife Award’.

Equally at home in musical theatre and spoken theatre, he has appeared at many major theatres since his return to Germany, including as Herod in *Jesus Christ Superstar*, Albin/Zaza in *La Cage aux Folles*, Horace Vandergelder in *Hello, Dolly!*, Bobby Child in *Crazy For You*, Roger De Bris in *The Producers*, Buddy Plummer in *Follies*, Max von Mayerling in *Sunset Boulevard*, Captain E.J. Smith in *Titanic*, Frank Senior in *Catch Me If You Can*, Anatoly Sergievsky in *Chess*, Harry Frommermann in *Comedian Harmonists*, Edna Turnblad in *Hairspray* and the Master of Ceremonies in *Cabaret*. In theatre, he appeared in, amongst others, *All das Schöne* as well as playing Alfred Ill in *The Visit*, Death in *Jedermann*, Lord Burleigh in *Mary Stuart*, Trofimov in *The Cherry Orchard*, the Enchanted King in *Tales from the Vienna Woods* and the Fool in *Twelfth Night*. Alongside his stage career, he taught acting, song interpretation and tap dancing at various universities in Germany and the USA for many years, and, as an experienced tap dancer, also choreographed productions himself.
