What is an opera made of?
The open laboratory provides space for experiments and questions: at times, we explore gaming worlds with visitors wearing VR headsets, play “Mensch, ärger dich nicht” against an artificial intelligence, hack the programming code of a grand opera, and consider all the things virtual realities cannot do. In March 2024, we’ll be starting with the various building blocks of a traditional opera production: the libretto, the music, the set and costume design, and the staging. Opera is reinterpreted using digital programmes: in six workshops, curious visitors can create 3D stage designs in virtual reality, write libretti with the help of ChatGPT, or stage simulations.
