THE COMPANY

Everything used to be better! Under this slogan, a legendary COMPANY in Schalke is selling a strange kitchen appliance: according to the advert, the ThermoREmix© transforms failed dishes back into their original ingredients. Naturally, the COMPANY soon realises that the true market potential of the REmix© lies not solely in its use in the kitchen: people are throwing pets, relationships and entire neighbourhoods into the machine. And within their own four walls, the COMPANY claims, the ‘good old days’ are preserved. The COMPANY was founded over the last few months by stattWerkSTADT in Schalke. Now, for the first time, it is opening its doors for two open days. Visitors experience a place where, on the surface, everything seems as it always has been. Paper aeroplanes glide towards the bin, photocopiers are photocopying, and Anne is telling Paula what she plans to do in her retirement. But behind the façade, things are crumbling. Yellow smoke is rising from the ThermoRemix© production hall. A storm is brewing in the corridor outside the canteen. And whilst most employees are still trying to maintain the appearance of normality, others are already planning the uprising. Performances on 20 and 21 June, 5 pm!
