Tech Residence
As part of the Federal Cultural Foundation’s ‘Art & AI’ programme, the internationally active artist and researcher Dr Ellen Pearlman from New York is visiting MiR.LAB for a two-week tech residency. Together with the MiR.LAB team, she is exploring new artistic approaches to combining artificial intelligence, memory and musical theatre. The starting point for the residency is the interactive music theatre project ‘The System Cannot Fail’, which is being developed at MiR.LAB in collaboration with Ellen Pearlman and will have its world premiere at the Kleines Haus next season. The focus is on the question of how artificial intelligence stores and alters memory, identity and reality. During the two-week research period at the LAB, artistic, technological and performative approaches will be explored, which will inform the project’s further development. To mark the end of the residency, Dr Ellen Pearlman will offer insights into her work on artificial intelligence and memory in a discussion. Dr Ellen Pearlman works at the intersection of art, technology, performance and research. In her projects, she explores how new technologies alter our perception, our bodies, our memories and our reality. Her work combines artistic practice with experimental research and opens up perspectives on a future in which humans and machines increasingly co-create reality.
