Outreach Residence

From 28 June to 11 July 2026, the collective Hemmesmann | Fuchs & Lovers will be in residence at MiR.LAB as part of the Outreach Residency Programme. The programme offers artists working in the performing arts the opportunity to develop and test ideas for contemporary participatory art projects in Gelsenkirchen during a two-week open-ended residency. Hemmesmann | Fuchs & Lovers are working on a theatre trail through Gelsenkirchen city centre. Together with groups from the local community, they are exploring how performance and everyday urban life can intersect. In an initial research phase, the collective is exploring the themes of care work, accessibility and welfare. You can join the team for a discussion at the artists’ talk on 7 July. On 9 July, we’re inviting you back to the LAB: to try things out, listen and take a look together at what the team has developed in Gelsenkirchen. Afterwards, we’ll be celebrating the end of the residency. Maj Lilith Hemmesmann is a freelance theatre maker specialising in performance, dramaturgy and research; Anton Fuchs is a freelance theatre musician and dramaturg. In their work, they explore public space, collaborative performance formats, questions of coexistence and our relationship with the environment. Their most recent projects include the participatory installation ‘Wheel of X’ and the performance ‘Knallkrebs, Kuckuck & Co’.
