King Henry’s Klimper Cart

With great fanfare, Her Majesty King Heinrich’s regal carriage clatters into the Christmas market. At last, the princely carriage allows itself to be admired once more by the common folk, who had actually only intended to gather at the mulled wine stall. But no one can resist the King’s gifts: His Majesty has ordered that a red-nosed reindeer be sacrificed so that all the good wishes of the people of Gelsenkirchen can then be granted. Unfortunately, however, something goes wrong during this pompous display of power, and instead of the reindeer, Father Christmas is promptly sawn in half. Luckily, a magician is on hand to sort things out. So in the end – perhaps – all wishes will come true after all! The “Klimper-Karre” rolls straight out of MiR.LAB’s “stattWerkSTADT” and into the Christmas market on Heinrich-König-Platz. Here, over the Advent period, a wooden cart was built, sketches were rehearsed and magic tricks practised. On two pre-Christmas evenings, the Klimper-Karre, with the bewildered king on board, winds its way through the Christmas market, inviting visitors to join in and think about what they really wish for Gelsenkirchen this Christmas.
