Goddesses
Zeus is dead. Hera, Athena and Aphrodite are celebrating their newfound freedom on Mount Olympus. It soon becomes clear that Zeus’s death was no accident. Their mourning, however, is short-lived. Athena and Aphrodite make a bet: One wants to prove that she can flirt with the first human she meets on Earth, whilst the other wants to resist love and break hearts from now on. The three decide to embark on an adventure on Earth. Once there, they encounter the cyber-guru AreX Tamp. Because he does not recognise the goddesses for what they are, an argument ensues. Aphrodite reminds Athena of their bet: Athena must flirt with AreX! However, after a failed attempt at seduction, Aphrodite loses her temper and sets the two of them up against their will. Her love spell is short-lived: when the enchanted couple come round, AreX realises he is dealing with real goddesses. He senses his big chance. With the help of their divine powers, he could develop an all-powerful AI and save the world from destruction. To this end, he sets a trap for the goddesses. From now on, the AI models venUSA, CHAThera and A.T.H.E.N.E.X.A. are to be responsible for true love, diplomacy and warfare. But the Moirai have a different fate in store… Probably the world’s first cyber-operetta by Nora Krahl, featuring well-known melodies by Jacques Offenbach and Paul Lincke, places three female stereotypes at the heart of the story. Three women, three fates, three perspectives on power and femininity. With the murder of Zeus, the father of the gods, the plot paves the way for the goddesses to redefine themselves. Yet even goddesses are not free from prejudice. They struggle to break free from old patterns and to gain control over their own bodies. Their adversary, the charismatic techno prophet and modern mythmaker AreX Tamp, believes in AI as a saviour and begins to digitise the goddesses. But they fight back and, together, infiltrate his system: singing, dancing, seductive and striking, yet acting of their own accord. They battle for the power to define reality in a man’s world that is not merely myth, but reality.
A cyber operetta loosely based on Jacques Offenbach
