BaRock Opera

Interactive theatre – right in your neighbourhood! In May 2025, MiR.LAB will transform the streets and buildings of Gelsenkirchen’s Neustadt district into the stage for a galactic spectacle: the BaRockOper. A play full of spaceships, stars and alien planets – and YOU can be part of it! We’re looking for people of all ages who’d like to help shape this unique urban project. Whether it’s building sets, sewing costumes, painting backdrops or taking to the stage yourself – we need your help! And the highlight: three live bands will be rocking the stage with us. In the tradition of great festivals and travelling theatre troupes, we’re creating a production that transforms the streets of Gelsenkirchen into an intergalactic adventure – with a story that tells of distant galaxies yet takes place right here on our doorstep. Join in and become part of our city spectacle!
