Constanze Jader
Singer
The German mezzo-soprano Constanze Jader studied singing at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin under Prof. Dr Ewa Wolak, Julia Varady and Wolfram Rieger in his art song class. Together with the Brandenburg State Orchestra, she sang the role of Hansel in Humperdinck’s *Hansel and Gretel*. She made her debut at the Tischlerei at the Deutsche Oper Berlin with *My Corporate Identity* by Thierry Tidrow. Tidrow subsequently wrote the mono-opera *Prothesen der Autonomie* for her and the LUX:NM ensemble; its world premiere won the Berlin Opera Prize. At the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, she made her debut in the role of Agni in Claude Vivier’s *Kopernikus* and was subsequently engaged there as Emma in *Snow White* by Engelbert Humperdinck and Wolfgang Mitterer.
She took part in the 2021 Eppan Song Festival under the direction of Brigitte Fassbaender. As a concert singer, she has performed, amongst other things, in the Berlin Philharmonic’s Education Programme, with the Schola of the Berlin Radio Choir, and in oratorios in Germany and Switzerland. At the international Zdeněk Fibich Competition, she won second prize as well as two special prizes. She was a scholarship holder of the German Stage Association and the Hanns and Steffy Eisler Foundation.
Under the baton of Robin Ticciati, Constanze Jader sang the title role in Britten’s opera *The Rape of Lucretia* with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
At the Theater Bremen, her roles have included Ottavia in Monteverdi’s *L’incoronazione di Poppea*, the Third Lady in Mozart’s *The Magic Flute*, Hannah Pitt / Rabbi Chemelwitz / Henry in Eötvös’s ‘Angels in America’, as Pasqualita in John Adams’s ‘Dr. Atomic’ and as Dryade in ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’, as well as in many other roles on stage. Guest engagements in various other roles have taken her to, amongst others, the Semperoper Dresden, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the German National Theatre in Weimar and the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen. Here she sang Meg Page in Verdi’s “Falstaff” and Orpheus in Gluck’s “Orpheus and Eurydice”.
From the 2026–27 season onwards, she will be part of the ensemble at the MiR Gelsenkirchen.
